How we serve our community

We offer the following programs to men, women and children in our community

Legal Advocacy

Shelter House advocates provide legal advocacy by informing victims of their legal rights, assisting with filling out paperwork for injunctions for protection, accompanying participants to court and acting as liaisons between victims and attorneys.

Economic Justice

Shelter House offers financial education and economic empowerment courses, counseling and materials so that every participant has the opportunity for an independent, dignified, productive life.

Primary Prevention

Shelter House works with schools and after-school programs to teach youth about healthy relationships and red flags for abusers.

Child Welfare

Shelter House has advocates co-located at Department of Children and Families offices in Okaloosa and Walton counties to help enhance family safety, create permanency for children, reduce removals of children from non-offending parents and hold batterers accountable.

Community Education

Shelter House welcomes every opportunity to educate the community about domestic violence and the services we provide.

Emergency Shelter

Our emergency shelter is open 24/7, 365 days a year and provides a safe place for victims of domestic violence as well as their children and pets.

Support Services

Shelter House advocates offer a variety of support to survivors, including counseling, advocacy and support groups.
