Shelter House has an Abuse Response Team

Abuse Response Team (ART)

Abuse Response Team (ART) contact procedure for Law Enforcement to request an Abuse Response Team member:

When Law Enforcement is on the scene of a domestic violence call and they assess the victim is in eminent danger; they can contact Shelter House hotline.
The hotline will request a brief synopsis from the officer and a contact number or place to respond.
The volunteer on the line will contact the Abuse Response Team (ART) member on call and relay information and contact number or place to respond.
ART will call or respond as soon as possible.
ART will make contact with the officer and or client depending on circumstances.
ART responds to a safe location such as Sheriff's Department, police station or other safe location. ART's can not respond to victim's home unless special request of Law Enforcement. This can only be done if Law Enforcement is standing by the entire time. This is to assure the safety of the team member.
The ART member will do a field assessment with the victim. This is to determine the immediate needs of the victim. The victim must meet the eligibility for staying at Shelter House.
The ART member will transport the victim to Shelter House.
