Shelter House is the state certified domestic and sexual violence center serving Okaloosa and Walton
counties. Shelter House supports victims of domestic and sexual violence by providing shelter, intervention
and primary prevention programs to the community through education, awareness and advocating for social
Shelter House is looking for a full-time Housekeeping and Maintenance Assistant.
The Housekeeping and Maintenance Assistant is dedicated to ensuring that all agency facilities and grounds
where survivors are served are safe, secure and properly maintained. Essential position functions may include,
but are not limited to:
Responsible for meeting/maintaining health and safety standards at all Shelter House facilities.
Responsible for upkeep of all agency facilities where survivors are served, including:
o Cleaning and tidying of facility
o Minor repairs at the emergency shelter
o Ensuring the property grounds are clean and attractive
Where and when you’ll work:
Shelter House’s staff, operations, hours, and location vary by function, type of work, and work style. The
Housekeeping and Maintenance Assistant will primarily work from our confidential emergency shelter, with
occasional travel required within the service area.
This is a full-time position. You can expect to work regularly Monday – Friday from 8:00am-5:00pm. Occasional
weekend or evening hours may be required for emergency purposes.
Highly independent and self-motivated.
Adaptable to change in a highly stressful and fast paced environment.
Must be able to lift, carry and or more items up to 35 pounds.
Must be able to stand or walk for up to eight hours.
Must have current and valid Florida driver’s license, current automobile insurance and reliable vehicle.
The ability to be flexible and “go with the flow” in an ever changing and dynamic environment.

Starting salary range and benefits:
$11-$13 per hour, depending on experience and skills. Total compensation package includes a generous
benefits package, including health, dental, vision, paid time off and eleven (11) paid holidays.
