WAM! (Women and Money!) |
Economic Empowerment classes are being offered in Okaloosa and Walton counties. Participants will learn about credit, how to deal with creditors, loans, basic savings and checking accounts, and much more.
Classes began this week in Fort Walton Beach, and will begin in DeFuniak Springs in September. Attendees will still be able to join after the class has begun. Classes are once a week for six weeks. All classes are open to the public and free of charge. Call 243-1201 or email

Shelter House is able to offer these classes because of a grant from The Allstate Foundation. The first sets of classes were held at the Northwest Florida State College campuses in Niceville, DeFuniak Springs and Santa Rosa Beach.
The instructors were very informative and made sure all the questions were answered, said a participant. I learned I have several financial options.
